University of Nairobi,  playing a vital part in increasing professional capacity in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care in Somalia

The Department of Anaesthesia, University of Nairobi, is playing a vital part in increasing professional capacity in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care in Somalia. Dr Dalha Daher, who is one of our newly joined M.Med Anaesthesia students, will be one of less than five Physician level Anaesthesiologists in the Republic of Somalia when he finishes.

Dr. Bernadette Hangalla spent 3 months at the Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital under  the mentorship of Dr. Allan Kochi, Dr. Khalid, Dr. Apondi and Dr. Rashid, all alumni of the department of anaesthesia. `It was a fruitful 3 months and she is ready to rejoin the department.

The department of Anaesthesia and Mama Lucy Kibaki Refferal Hospital has a collaboration for external rotation of our residents. Prof. Ngumi visited the facility to meet the leadership of the hospital and our resident Dr. Margaret Mulatya who was there for her elective term.

Our residents participated in an Outreach at Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital in Nairobi. Various middle ear surgeries were performed . The outreach was sponsored by Operation Ear Drop Kenya .

We shall have a rich panel of experts in their fields to discuss 4 interesting topics.
